Pete and Freddy’s Pages Aplenty

We opened in October of 2009 with the mission to share our love of the written word and books with a community that we were brand new to. Often, we operate the shop with the mindset of “be the change you want to see in the world” (Gandhi) and the idea that we want to have an impact locally and globally. Books have that power!
— Pete & Freddy

When we opened over a decade ago, two sisters with a dream, we had three rooms and 2,000 books. Looking at pictures, we are always amazed we could open with so little, but we made it work! Fast-forward to today and we have five rooms and nearly 50,000 books!?! To say we are bursting at the seams may be an understatement.

Now, more than ever, the bookstore is truly a reflection of who we are. We work more and more to be inclusive, diverse, and a haven for people in our community and beyond. A friend of ours often says “be where your feet are” and that means creating a space we are not only proud of but feel at home in. This is being surrounded by books that reflect who we are as readers, but more importantly, who we want to be as human beings in this crazy world.

Sharing our love of books with our customer family is a huge responsibility, but it is worth it for the memories we have created and the friendships we have fostered!

Pages aplenty, books galore, when you're finished come back for more!

UPDATE! As of December 2022, Pete became the sole owner of Pete & Freddy’s Pages Aplenty. She is keeping the bookstore dream alive and writing new chapters. In the Spring of 2023, Pete plans to move the shop to a larger location next door. Keep ‘reading’ for more bibliophile adventures with her and the bookstore!

    Hello there!

I’m Pete. You’ll often see me in the shop with “some crazy” color of hair (for the moment) and what I hope are great book recommendations. I have been an avid reader, a bibliophile if I may, for as long as I can remember. The longer the shop is open the better I get about reading widely. However, when we first opened, I could not be parted from my love of fantasy, historical fiction, and the occasional biography. Today I hop around in an effort to keep my mind expanding and my own ability to be a writer nurtured. Louisa May Alcott, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Patricia Briggs are only a few of my favorite authors from whom I take a lot of inspiration from. Although my own writing efforts tend more toward non-fiction, you never know! When I’m not reading or writing, you can likely find me knitting, watching films, playing Minecraft on my Switch, or going on adventures with my loved ones. Reading gives me solace, for that, I am eternally grateful, and it gives me freedom of discovery. Words continue to give me purpose.

    Hi, I'm Freddy!

Sister and past business partner to Pete. While I am no longer an owner, I am still (of course) her sister. I stepped down as co-owner in 2022 to pursue new adventures and to start a family with my wonderful husband, Brandon. Our beautiful daughter Louise arrived soon after! However, I will always be a book lover and collector. I love reading poetry, fantasy, horror, memoirs, and graphic novels. But I try to branch out whenever I can to try new things. I love recommendations! Robert Frost, Roald Dahl, Lucy Knisley, Holly Black, and Stephen King are only a smattering of my favorite authors. When not reading or chasing my daughter, I enjoy writing poetry, sewing, making art, and jewelry with found and recycled objects, and watching movies. Aside from books, I also collect VHS tapes, nature oddities, vintage toys, antiques, and whatever little shiny thing catches my fancy!
